Privacy Policy
This page explains, in plain language, what information Margdarshan collects when you visit — and just as importantly, what it doesn't.
Last updated: July 2026Overview
Margdarshan ("we", "us", "our") is a free, independent career guidance website for Indian students. This policy applies to the website you're reading now, hosted on GitHub Pages. We built Margdarshan to require as little of your personal information as possible — there are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no mandatory data collection to read any guide on the site.
This policy is written in plain English rather than dense legal language, but it is intended to be accurate and complete. If anything here is unclear, email us at margdarshan07support10@gmail.com and we'll clarify.
What we don't collect
- No user accounts, sign-ups, logins or passwords anywhere on this site.
- No advertising cookies or behavioural advertising networks — the only cookies set on this site are from Google Analytics 4, described below.
- No sale, rental or trading of any visitor data to third parties — we have none to sell.
- No contact form on this site currently sends data to us directly — our Contact page uses a plain email link instead.
Information collected automatically (by our host)
Margdarshan is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like virtually any website host, GitHub's servers automatically log basic technical information when you visit — typically your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you request — for security and operational purposes. Because GitHub, not Margdarshan, controls this hosting-level logging, it's governed by GitHub's own privacy statement rather than by us directly. You can review it on GitHub's website.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site — which pages are read, roughly how long visitors stay, and general location and device information (such as country, browser and screen size). Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. See the Third-party services and Cookies sections below for what that involves and how to control it.
Local storage (dark mode preference)
When you toggle dark mode, Margdarshan saves that preference using your browser's local storage — a small piece of data kept entirely on your own device. This is not a cookie, is never transmitted to our servers, cannot be used to identify you, and exists only so the site remembers your preference the next time you visit. You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings.
Third-party services
This site loads typeface files from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) so that pages render with the intended typography. Loading a font from Google's servers means your device connects directly to Google, which may log standard request information such as your IP address, as it would for any web request. We don't control what Google does with this data — you can review Google's own privacy policy for details.
We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) to measure site traffic and understand how visitors use Margdarshan. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish visitors and sessions, and sends usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and similar) to Google's servers. You can review Google's privacy policy for how Google handles this data, and you can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by disabling cookies in your browser (see our Cookie Policy for how).
We do not currently embed any advertising networks or social media widgets on Margdarshan.
| Service | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| GitHub Pages | Website hosting | Standard server access logs (IP, browser, page requested) |
| Google Fonts | Typography rendering | IP address, browser request metadata |
| Google Analytics 4 | Site traffic & usage measurement | Cookies, IP-derived approximate location, device/browser type, pages visited, session duration |
If you email us
If you choose to email margdarshan07support10@gmail.com, we will naturally receive your email address, name (if you provide one), and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to you — to answer your question, investigate a correction you've reported, or consider a suggestion. We do not add your email to any mailing list, and we do not share it with third parties.
Children's privacy
Margdarshan is designed for students, including those under 18, choosing a stream or career after Class 10 or Class 12. We do not knowingly or intentionally collect personal information from any visitor, including minors, beyond what a visitor voluntarily includes in an email to us. We encourage students under 18 to involve a parent, guardian or teacher when contacting us or making decisions based on information found here.
Data security
Because we collect so little information directly, our data-security exposure is limited by design. The site itself is served over HTTPS by GitHub Pages. Email correspondence is protected to the extent your and our email providers secure it. As with any online service, no method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other applicable law, you have rights over personal data we may hold about you — primarily, in our case, any email correspondence you've sent us. You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what information we hold that relates to you.
- Correct any inaccurate information.
- Delete correspondence you've previously sent us.
To exercise any of these, email margdarshan07support10@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new tool or service to the site. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to revisit this page occasionally if you have concerns about how the site handles data.
